DeAndre Hopkins

PRO: The Titans signed DeAndre Hopkins as a free agent in the 2023 offseason. The 6-foot-1-inch, 212 pounder brings a veteran presence to a young receiving room and possesses an impressive combination of size, catch radius, a talent to win contested catches and an ability to read defenses. Entering 2023, the four-time All-Pro (first-team 2017-19, second team 2020) and five-time Pro Bowl selection ranks first in receptions (853), first in first down receptions (594), second in receiving yards (11,298) and fourth in receiving touchdowns (71) since entering the league in 2013. Hopkins entered the league as the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Clemson and spent his first seven seasons with the Houston Texans before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2020. 

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
•   In his first 10 seasons, Hopkins established himself as one of the premier receivers in NFL history with 853 receptions for 11,298 yards and 71 touchdowns while starting in 145 games.
•   Hopkins is a five-time Pro Bowl selection (2015, 2017-20) and four-time All-Pro selection. Named first team All-Pro in three straight seasons (2017-19) and second team All-Pro in 2020.
•   Has surpassed 100 receptions four times in his career, has six seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards, three seasons with 10+ touchdowns and has posted 100+ receiving yards in a game 40 times. 
•   From 2013 to 2022, ranked first in receptions (853), first in first down receptions (594), second in receiving yards (11,298) and fourth in receiving touchdowns (71) during the regular season.
•   Enters 2023 with at least one reception in all 145 career games played during the regular season. That represents the longest active streak in the NFL and is the fourth-longest in the Super Bowl era to begin a career.
•   Was the only NFL player to have 100+ receptions every season between 2018-20.
•   Hopkins (two) joins Devante Adams (two) as the only active NFL players with at least 100 receptions, 1,500 receiving yards and 11 touchdown receptions in multiple seasons (2015, 2018).
•   In Week 10 of the 2020 season Hopkins hauled in a 43-yard pass from Kyle Murray over three Buffalo Bills defenders in the end zone with two seconds remaining for the game-winning touchdown. The play was dubbed "Hail Murray" and won the 2021 ESPY for "Best Play."
•   In 2019, finished the season with 104 receptions for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns and was named first-team AP NFL All-Pro for the third consecutive year.
•   In 2018, named to his second consecutive AP NFL All-Pro first team and Pro Bowl after posting 115 receptions for 1,572 yards and 11 touchdowns.
•   In 2017, Hopkins posted 96 receptions for 1,378 yards and 13 touchdowns earning him first-team AP NFL All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. His 13 receiving touchdowns led the league. Became one of two players in 2017 to score a receiving touchdown in five consecutive games.
•   In 2015, named to his first Pro Bowl and selected second-team AP NFL All-Pro after finishing the year with 111 receptions for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns. Became the first player in NFL history with at least nine catches and 145 receiving yards in three consecutive games (Weeks 4-6).
•   In 2014, recorded 76 receptions for 1,210 yards and six touchdowns. He became the 25th player in NFL history to amass 2,000 yards receiving through his first two seasons. Recorded a career-high 238 receiving yards on nine receptions in Week 13 against the Titans.
•   In 2013, Hopkins started all 16 games and finished the season with 52 receptions for 802 yards. Earned a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team and was voted the Texans Rookie of the Year by teammates. Was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month in September after recording 20 receptions for 270 yards and a touchdown.

TITANS TIDBITS:
•   Hopkins reunites with head coach Mike Vrabel, offensive coordinator Tim Kelly, pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Charles London and passing game analyst Pat O'Hara after spending time with all three coaches in Houston during their time as Texans.
•   Started his annual NFL FLAG Football League in 2021, a program that teaches the fundamentals of football through a no-contact rule and team-oriented environment.
•   Hopkins' mother, Sabrina Greenlee, established the SMOOOTH Foundation to assist survivors of domestic violence. In addition to providing financial assistance to the foundation, Hopkins also spends time meeting with women his mother mentors and speaking to high school students about his past experiences.
•   Following his freshman season at Clemson, Hopkins briefly joined the basketball team. He appeared in seven games for the Tigers, recording a rebound, steal, block and an assist.

•   The Central, S.C., native was selected by the Houston Texans in the first round (27th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
•   Traded by the Texans to the Arizona Cardinals on March 13, 2020.
•   Released by the Cardinals on May 26, 2023.
•   Signed by the Titans as a free agent on July 24, 2023.

COLLEGE:
•   Played in 39 games with 32 starts over three seasons (2010-12) at Clemson and recorded 206 receptions for 3,020 yards and 27 touchdowns. Also added 32 yards on a pair of kickoff returns and 82 yards on 12 punt returns to amass 3,134 all-purpose yards. Left Clemson ranked first in school history in receiving yards, first in receiving touchdowns, first in 100-yard receiving games (12) and second in receptions.
•   Became the second player in ACC history to total at least 50 receptions as both a freshman and sophomore. Had at least one reception in each of his last 36 games, tied for a school record.
•   Only player in school history with multiple 100-yard receiving performances in bowl games as he tallied 32 receptions for 403 yards and three touchdowns in three postseason appearances.
•   As a junior (2012), started all 13 games and led the team with 82 receptions for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns. Was a semi-finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top receiver, Hopkins was also a Maxwell Award Watch List member, earning second-team All-American honors from The NFL Draft Report, Athlon, CBSSports.com, Lindy's, Phil Steele, and Scout.com, in addition to being named third-team by the Associated Press and honorable mention from Sports Illustrated. Was an unanimous All-ACC first-team pick.
•   His 82 grabs tied Sammy Watson (2011) for second on the school and eighth on the ACC season-record list. His 1,405 receiving yards set a school record and is the second-best season total in ACC annals. His 18 touchdown catches set both school and conference annual records.
•   As a sophomore (2011), played in 14 games with 11 starts and finished with 72 receptions for 978 yards and five touchdowns. Received All-American honorable mention and All-ACC first-team honors from The NFL Draft Report.
•   As a freshman (2010), appeared in 12 games with eight starts and led the team in receptions with 52 for 637 yards and four touchdowns. His receptions and yards gained set new school freshman records. Also had kickoff returns for 32 yards and two punt returns for 33 yards. Earned Freshman All-American third-team accolades from Phil Steele and The NFL Draft Report, Freshman All-ACC honors and was Clemson's Rookie of the Year. Gained at least 100 yards in his final four appearances. Following the football season, had a brief stint on the basketball team, appearing in seven games and recording a block, rebound, steal and assist.
•   Majored in community recreation, sport and camp management at Clemson.

PERSONAL:
•   Attended D.W. Daniel (Central, S.C.) where he had 57 receptions for 1,266 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense and 28 interceptions, including five returned for touchdowns during his prep career. Also returned 11 punts for 289 yards and three touchdowns, along with two kickoff returns for 119 yards and one touchdown as a senior. Led D.W. Daniel High to a 37-4 record during his career.
•   Rated the 12th-best wide receiver in the nation and the state's eighth-best overall prospect by Rivals.com and was the 14th-ranked cornerback by Scout.com.
•   Super Prep's sixth-ranked athlete in the state, he received All-State first-team honors from the Charlotte Observer and The State, adding All-Southern honors from the Orlando Sentinel. Was a finalist for state's "Mr. Football" accolade, he was twice named All-State (defense) by the AP.
•   Participated in the Offense-Defense All American game and the Shrine Bowl.
•   Two-time Seneca Daily Journal Player of the Year and Anderson Independent Player of the Year choice, in addition to receiving Class AAA All-State honors form the High School Sports Report as a junior and senior.
•   Added co-region player of the year recognition as a senior and was a three-time all-region pick.
•   Also a four-year starter for the school's basketball team, he earned All-State honors three times and tallied more than 1,300 points, 400 rebounds, 600 assists and 200 steals in his prep career. Led the team to a state title as a senior, the school's first title since 1967.
•   His uncle, the late Terry Smith, had 162 receptions as a Clemson Tiger from 1990-93.
